The project: IMEG provided structural engineering services for the design phase of major upgrades at the existing Village Creek Water Reclamation Facility, involving demolition and replacement of key infrastructure components.

The goal: The City is looking to modernize and expand primary treatment capacity while carefully managing demolition activities to protect critical site features such as the existing levee and underground utilities.

Scope of work: The design phase of the project includes demolition of numerous existing structures, including twelve clarifiers, two screening buildings, and two pump stations, requiring coordination to protect the existing levee and adjacent buried assets. Drawings for suggested overall excavations and shoring required to accommodate the demolition and proposed new structures will be required. Scope also includes the design of three new 190-foot diameter primary clarifiers, a new primary clarifier influent splitter box/distribution structure, two new scum pump stations, a new primary sludge pump station, a new site retaining wall, various junction structures, as well as structural modifications of the existing plant sewer meter vault.

The expected outcome: The project will result in a fully modernized and more efficient primary treatment system, improved site layout, and infrastructure ready for future plant needs all while safeguarding critical site protections and ensuring uninterrupted operations during construction.
