Surgery Critical Care Addition
IMEG provided structural engineering design services for the new 347,000-sf, six-story surgery critical care addition — the hospital’s new “front door.” The addition was designed for future vertical expansion for two floors with 36 operating rooms and support services, and three floors with 72 critical care rooms. A 13,000-sf central energy plant expansion and renovations for new connecting access ways were also included in the project.
In order to expedite the permitting process and material procurement IMEG issued Early Award Foundation and Structural Steel drawing packages. This required our engineers to devote significantly more effort in the early stages of the project and made it necessary for our team to adapt changes, as could be expected as, the project design continued to evolve.
