Telecommunications Infrastructure
As part of its long-term campus master plan, Kishwaukee College updated its campus infrastructure.
IMEG provided the technology design required for this project. To serve existing and new buildings, IMEG designed a campus fiber optic ring and copper telecommunications system to provide for the current and future voice and data needs of faculty, staff, and students.
Several challenges were encountered, including existing campus utility development that created conflicts with existing fiber runs. As a result, fiber previously had been spliced, leaving it no longer serviceable.
In addition to site utility planning and relocation, the design team also faced the challenges of crossover from existing to new systems, connecting multiple buildings, and tying new infrastructure systems with existing systems.
