IMEG provided electrical and lighting engineering design services for the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MTBA) Ruggles Station platform expansion project, which included replacing the fire alarm system, extending security systems, and installing new lighting systems. Lighting design included the pedestrian tunnel, open rail platform, and under canopy platform.

Electrical systems included platform steel grounding per Amtrak standard requirements, variable message signage
(VMS) and data cabling, MPEG-4 encoders that transmit live video to hub center and MBTA police, and new PA speakers tied back to existing system.

IMEG coordinated with nearby Northeastern University regarding the adjacent flyover infrastructure to ensure no interference from either party. The complex project involved multiple stakeholders, including street-level retail tenants, above-grade MBTA tracks, and commuter rail and Amtrak tracks. In order to maintain visual communication, IMEG installed variable message signs for the MBTA, Amtrak and Keolis.
