Vision Research Center Build-out
IMEG provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, technology and civil engineering services for a 55,188-sf remodel of shelled spaces in the former Avery Dennison Corp. headquarters for Doheny Eye Institute, a nonprofit organization affiliated with the UCLA Stein Eye Institute.
The Doheny Eye Center occupies the ground level, second, and third floors of the 123,000-sf building, and includes the institute’s dedicated research space, image reading center and analysis laboratory, state-of-the-art conference center, and administrative space.
IMEG designed a dedicated outside air handling unit (DOAS) and exhaust systems for the ground-level vivarium, along with a DOAS unit and 100% exhaust system for the second and third floor research laboratories, hot water boiler system for the DOAS units, and server room in-row DX cooling system.
IMEG also designed a centrally located uninterruptible power source (UPS) to power critical loads that can’t experience outages, and lab systems, including lab gas tank manifold and distribution systems, vacuum system, acid waste system with acid neutralizer, reverse osmosis and deionization water systems.
Civil services included topographical surveys, grading and drainage design, and a storm drainage and grading plan.
