Strategic growth, industry rankings, awards highlight IMEG’s top achievements of ’24
2024 proved to be another successful year for IMEG as the firm continued to expand, add new services, rise in industry rankings, and win several national and regional project awards. Here’s a list of our top 10 accomplishments of the past year. (For an accompanying video, click here.)
1. IMEG expanded in many regions throughout the year, growing the firm to 100 offices and more than 2,800 team members nationwide, expanding service capabilities, and strengthening expertise in various market sectors. Companies joining IMEG in 2024 were:

2. IMEG’s internal AI chatbot, Meg, was unveiled after a year-and-a-half of development. Meg assists engineers and improves project outcomes by drawing from the firm’s vast amount of stored data.
3. Thirty-three STEM scholarships were awarded to students across the U.S. in the firm’s second year of its scholarship program.
4. The firm launched a new service, IMEG Labs, to provide owners with early, third-party validation of the technologies and integrations that have been specified for new or renovation projects.
5. IMEG rose in industry rankings across the board, coming in at #52 among Engineering News-Record‘s 2024 Top 500 Design Firms and #20 on ENR’s 2024 Top 100 Green Firms, up five spots from last year on both lists. The firm also ranked #3 on Building Design + Construction’s 2024 Giant’s 400 Report and #12 among Consulting-Specifying Engineer’s MEP Giants 2024.
6. Several team members received regional and national industry honors, including:

7. More than 30 IMEG projects were honored in national and regional award competitions, including:
- Fourteen projects in ENR Regional Best Projects
- Advanced Engineering Building at University of Nevada, Las Vegas: National ENR Best of the Best
- Missouri Botanical Garden’s Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center, St. Louis: National ENR Best of the Best, ACEC Missouri Grand Award and St. Louis Chapter ASHRAE Tech Award
- NVIDIA Voyager in Santa Clara, CA: AISC IDEAS2 Award and SEAONC Structural Engineering Excellence
- 651 Gateway in South San Francisco, CA: SEAONC Structural Engineering Excellence Award of Merit and NCSEA Structural Engineering Excellence Award Finalist
- Chronicle Mill in Belmont, NC: NAHB’s Multifamily Community of the Year for Adaptive Reuse
- State University of New York System (SUNY) Clean Energy Master Plans: ACEC New York Platinum Award. SUNY Milne Library, Geneseo, NY, and Borden Avenue BESS, Long Island City, NY, won ACEC New York Gold Awards.
- HSBC headquarters, New York City: NY Architectural Design Silver Award for IMEG’s lighting design
- Washington Park, Seattle, WA; Avalon Bothell Commons, Bothell, WA; and The Ayer, Seattle, WA: NAIOP Washington Night of the Stars Awards
8. IMEG engineers provided design for several unique projects across the U.S., including:
- In preparation for the 2024 Summer Olympics, IMEG engineers were involved in the design of a first-of-its-kind, temporary Olympic-size swimming pool inside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN.
- IMEG client executive Peter Monroe traveled to Antarctica to conduct a structural project site visit at McMurdo Station, a National Science Foundation research facility on Ross Island.
- IMEG engineers provided structural design for the first new high school in Alameda County, CA, in more than 50 years. The new school opened in August.
- JQ, now IMEG, provided structural design for parts of Harwood Park in Dallas. The park draws inspiration from Columbian mammoths that roamed the plains of North Texas 12,000 years ago. The project also won an ENR Texas & Louisiana Best Project Award of Merit.
- IMEG provided engineering design for the renovation of two historic landmarks in New York City: Astoria Pool and Fire Department of New York Engine Company 224. Astoria Pool, which originally opened in 1936 and is the city’s largest public pool, reopened following a $19 million reconstruction project. FDNY Engine Company 224, built in 1903, was completely modernized and rehabilitated to meet modern quality of life standards for firefighters and building code requirements. The restoration received a F.I.E.R.O. Fire Station Design Merit Award.
9. IMEG saved clients more than 450,000 tons of carbon emissions through sustainable design and services. Meanwhile, IMEG’s internal sustainability champions across the country led updated sustainability efforts within the firm’s offices and communities.
